1. Call you as Customer care executive and tell you that your sim is going to deactivate tonight and to continue using your SIM you have to recharge as soon as possible before 12 a.m.

You ignore him as a promotional call.

But he call you again that this is the last reminder call to tell you and today you will lose your sim, and they can transfer your sim to anyone else, if your mobile number is link to your bank account than someone else can use your mobile number to get OTP and can withdraw money from your bank account. Please recharge soon and then it's your wish if you don't want to recharge. You can call me if you need any help.

You Get threaten and take him seriously, and you urgently recharge your mobile number. But wait. What? Your recharge is successful, but you can't make a call. So, now you remember him that he was right.

3. Now he tells you sir/madam I told you before but let me see what I can do for you. He will wait for 3-5 minutes and tell you now your mobile number is deactivate you need to do RE-KYC for that get your AADHAR card number and give it to me.

You will be somewhat concise and tell him that my AADHAR card is not with me. I will get it and call you in sometime. You will immediately call Customer care number and dam they tell you that you need to do KYC to activate your sim. Exactly what the other executive told you. So, his two predictions get right and you gain confidently on him.

4. You call him give him your AADHAR number to do KYC. Now he will ask you that is your AADHAR number link to your mobile number and your answer is yes. So, you have to give me OTP which will come to your mobile number, so we can verify and complete your E-KYC. So, you give him your OTP.

And now what??? You get SMS that your account is debit by 10,000/- INR you shock what happen???

Scenario 1:
They have activated your any e-wallet (PAY TM, G PAY, phone pay, etc.) On their phone by the OTP provided by you which you thought that it was AADHAR verification OTP.

Scenario 2:
They have your Debit card/credit card details, and they made online purchase on Amazon, Flipkart or done recharges or bought online courses to resell, or bought any online intellectual property which they can sell it later. (OTP given by you assume that it is E-KYC VERIFICATION OTP)

Scenario 3:
After providing you AADHAR number they will tell you that you will get a text message which you have to reply with “1.” to activate your SIM. Meanwhile, you don't know that the scammer has requested for SIM swap for your number to telecom company.

Most of the telecom companies Jio, idea, Airtel, Vodafone give facility to customer in case you lost your mobile phone or if you want to switch to NANO SIM.

The scammer will use the details provided by you to place the SIM swapping request, which you will be confirmed by sending SMS “1.”
